Unless our dentist digs out eveything that is bad from our teeth, our teeth will give us more problems in the future. The same goes for peoples' lives. If we cover over the deep issues in our lives, we will be in a mess at a later time. Unless we allow God to completely remove all the infected material (even when it hurts), we will not be very effective for His Kingdom. Will we give Him permission? Will we get into God's dental chair when He calls us in for an appointment?

Peter encourages us to look at God as the very best dentist who has the perfect instruments for the job, who desires not to hurt us but to give us the most powerful anaesthetic - His love.

Peter says that this is directly linked to solving the world's financial problems, and that the world is in desperate need of a visit from the dentist! 70% of the world's money is spent on health, defence and policing. The word of God says that if we obey the Lord our God, we would not need these things (Deuteronomy 28). Furthermore, many of the problems that we suffer with today are found in the list of curses that result from disobedience to God. Because we do not have all the things that God would bless us with if we simply obeyed Him, we have to pay the cost of all the sickness, disease, and suffering.

If man chose God's way, man would experience God's blessings. This is true on a personal scale as well as a global scale. Global problems are just a consequence of individual people choosing go their own way rather that God's. It is an individual sin problem and sin is very expensive.
