A person's last words are often their most important. Joshua was the type of man whose last words are certainly worth listening to!

In this mp3 sermon, Jilly speaks from Joshua 23 and emphasises Joshua's words in verse 11 "Be very careful to love the Lord your God".

Often we use the phrase 'be careful' when there is something to avoid. We typically use it when someone is in danger. However, in the Word of God we often find it being used to tell us to do something, not to avoid something. In the King James version it is translated 'take diligent heed'. We must diligently protect and guard our love for the Lord, and to keep His commandments which flows out of that love for Him.

Jilly encourages and challenges us to love the Lord God with all our hearts, forsaking all others, and remaining totally committed to Him. It's the things in our lives that we have not forsaken that often cause us problems later - we must be careful not to put other things before God, but to lay down our own desires and put him first.

Every Friday morning at Pierrepont (Home of NETS) we come together as a community to worship together, take communion and to feed on the word of God. Here you can listen to these Friday Sermons and discover what God is doing among us.
