In this extremely challenging sermon, Jill speaks from Philippians 3, exhorting us to forget what is behind and to look forward to our new life in Christ Jesus.
We need to learn from our past mistakes and failures, put them under the blood of Christ and move on. We do not need to suffer from guilt and shame for sins that God has already forgiven us for.
We must also not keep dwelling on what God has done in our lives in the past, at the expense of seeking Him for His will and His presence in our lives today. What God has done in our past is nothing compared to what He wants to do in our lives today and in the future.
"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 3:12-14
Every Friday morning at Pierrepont (Home of NETS) we come together as a community to worship together, take communion and to feed on the word of God. Here you can listen to these Friday Sermons and discover what God is doing among us.
