Do you have any broken relationships? People you haven't spoken to for many years? In part 6 of Jill's series on the story of Jacob, she arrives at the great meeting of Jacob and Esau after approximately 20 years of being apart. Of course the reason they haven't seen each other for so long is because Jacob deceived their father Isaac and stole the blessing of the first born.
However, Jacob's attitude and character has been significantly changed by God over the years and he comes in humility to meet his brother. To Jacob's surprise, Esau was happy to see his brother! Perhaps God had also been working on the heart of this man who had previously made angry death threats against his brother Jacob.
Jill challenges us over whether we have forgiven friends and family members that we have not seen for years because of issues that have happened between us. In these situations we can learn from Jacob to enquire of the Lord, and to walk in utter dependence on God, allowing Him to change and mould our hearts.
Every Friday morning at Pierrepont (Home of NETS) we come together as a community to worship together, take communion and to feed on the word of God. Here you can listen to these Friday Sermons and discover what God is doing among us.
