With her usual passion and fervour, Jilly gently encourages and challenges us to lay down our lives for the one who laid down His life for us. Jesus sent us out as sheep among wolves which means a hostile environment. Those who truly stand for what Jesus stood for will undoubtedly be hated as He was.
However, there is a thread that runs through history of people who have literally laid down their lives for this gospel and for the love of their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world and Jilly shares how God will empower us to do everything He calls us to do, even giving us the words to say when we need Him to.
Will we allow ourselves to suffer for the sake of the gospel? Do we really value the things of the Kingdom? Will we respond to His call? Is He worth it?
“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you." - Matthew 10:16-20
Every Friday morning at Pierrepont (Home of NETS) we come together as a community to worship together, take communion and to feed on the word of God. Here you can listen to these Friday Sermons and discover what God is doing among us.
