When we are involved in building the Kingdom of God, the enemy never gives up!
In this last sermon in the Nehemiah series, Jill speaks from chapter 13 where we see God's people desecrating the sabbath, and causing problems for Nehemiah. Nehemiah showed courage as he rebuked the people and commanded them to honour God with their lives. Nehemiah spoke very strongly to the people, warning them not to sin against the Lord by breaking the sabbath and marrying foreign women. He purified the place and the people before God.
We see that while Nehemiah their leader was absent for a short time everything began to fall apart again. Even though the wall was completed, the battle continued. However, Nehemiah returned and dealt with the sin of the people by confronting them with confidence like a true leader who is submitted to God.
Taking lessons from this chapter for today, Jill exhorts us to never go after money, or to marry somebody who is unequally yoked with yourself.
Every Friday morning at Pierrepont (Home of NETS) we come together as a community to worship together, take communion and to feed on the word of God. Here you can listen to these Friday Sermons and discover what God is doing among us.
